The Low Down
At Skudin Surf our employees are our biggest stars. Interested in joining our team? We begin hiring seasonal employees in the spring for our 3 locations: Long Beach, Rockaway Beach & Lido Beach.
Returning employees, please check your email and Humanity App in mid-February for notices about rehiring. Please do not have your parents facilitate communication on your behalf.
All applicants must be 16 years and older. Under 16
(14 & 15 years old) join our CIT Program, register on the kids camp page.
Requirements
All applicants will be interviewed and must pass tryout session. All new employees will go through a training process and must attend mandatory staff meetings. All employees need CPR & First Aid certificates (we offer certification classes in June). For a fee we also offer Life Guard certification courses- preferred for all surf instructors; required for directors and ocean managers. All staff must wear uniforms (shirt/rash guard) and look and act respectable at all times. We are an equal opportunity employer.
Because we run a relatively short 8-10 week program (depending on location), we expect staff to be available for most of those weeks.
Surf Instructors
Must have surf experience and be a good swimmer.
Shifts are offered 7 days a week for Long Beach & Rockaway. 5 Days a week for Lido.
We expect all employees to be available during camp hours Monday-Friday.
Lido Beach Town Park: 11:30 am -3:30 pm.
Long Beach: 8:30 am – 12:30 pm & 8:30 am – 3:30 pm.
Rockaway Beach: 9:00 am – 1:00 pm.
Instructors need their own wetsuit (we may have supplier discounts available).
Tent Managers
This position leads operations on the beach. Tent managers are responsible for check in, lesson management, and supervision of beach counselors and campers while on the beach.
Must have good organizational skills and work well with others.
Must be responsible and demonstrate accountability.
Previous leadership experience preferred.
Shifts offered 7 days a week

Counsellor in Training
Provides teens an opportunity to gain valuable work experience while having an amazing summer on the beach! Our CITs learn the value of responsibility, leadership development, and job training, as well as ocean safety and community service. The opportunity prepares teens to become staff members at Skudin Surf Camps, as well as productive members of their communities. Because this is a long-term skill-building training position, participants will not be paid. Limited Availability! If we are cancelling camp, your CIT will be notified via our staff management app; check our site and social media for updates.
Requirements:
There will be tryouts in June for all positions; discuss job requirements with your child prior to registering to make sure they are suited for the position.
